AHSC Program Partners

Administered by the Strategic Growth Council and implemented by the California Department of Housing and Community Development, the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program (AHSC) is a state program that funds “projects that implement land-use, housing, transportation, and agriculture land preservation practices that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.”

Access to AHSC funding requires collaboration with local agencies and nonprofits that realize the program’s GHG and community benefit goals, which has resulted in the following partner programs:

Realignment of the S Street travel lanes from 5th Street to 21st Street to install Class II bike lanes in both directions and installation of various bulb-outs on S Street between 10th Street and 18th Street

Improvements to the Broadway light rail station and five bus stops within one mile of Sakura, plus free RT passes for Sakura residents for the property’s first three years

Implementation of a first-time homebuyer program with a focus on preserving local culture and outreach to diverse communities

Contributions to the purchase of a zero emission multi-unit trainset and to the construction of the Valley Rail Midtown Station
